It has been a legal requirement since December 2002 for operators of counterbalanced forklift trucks to wear seat belts. There are exceptions to this rule but they apply only after a comprehensive risk assessment has been carried out. This rule only applies to masted counterbalance trucks and does not apply to reach trucks. Click here for exemptions.
